Let's first talk about what is SVC. In fact, the full name of SVC should be called dynamic reactive power compensator, which can be regarded as a dynamic reactive power source. According to the needs of access to the grid, it can provide reactive power to the grid (capacitive), but also to absorb the excess reactive power grid (rational). It has a capacitor that releases reactive power and a reactor that absorbs excess non-capacitive reactive power, so it is a dynamic compensation of reactive power.
Next, let's talk about the principle of SVG. SVG is centered on a high-power voltage inverter. After adjusting the amplitude and phase of the output voltage of the inverter or directly controlling the amplitude and phase of the AC side current, it quickly absorbs or emits the required reactive power to complete the purpose of quickly and dynamically adjusting the reactive power factor.

What is the difference between SVC and SVG in so much detail? The following is a list of
1. SVG has a fast response speed to obtain better voltage fluctuation and flicker suppression effect. SVG has a fast closed-loop response speed (10ms),SVC has a slow response speed (40ms-60ms). IGBT 10us used in SVG is switched once, and SCR in SVC/MCR is switched once in 10ms.
2. SVC applies SCR to control equivalent fundamental impedance, reactor, not only by the system harmonic influence, and itself will produce a large number of harmonics, must be matched with the filter group, filter out the harmonic content of SVC itself. Inverter is used in SVG, which is not only affected by the system harmonics, but also can effectively suppress the system harmonics.
3. SVC uses thyristor-regulated reactance plus multiple groups of FC as the main wrist for reactive power compensation. Resonance amplification is extremely easy to occur, resulting in safety accidents. When the system voltage is shaken, the compensation effect is greatly affected, and another is the large operation loss.; SVG compensation is a powerful IGBT function, so it has a good overload ability, low electromagnetic noise during operation.
4, SVG chain direct hanging can eliminate the connection transformer, reduce the air volume (less than half of SVC), reduce the cost and loss of the device, and the efficiency can reach 99.2 or more; SVG can form mobile equipment without large transformers and reactors, which greatly improves the operation rate of the equipment.
5, SVG adopts cabinet structure, simple design device, modular structure design, simple device and maintenance, small workload, can use remote monitoring mode, real-time upload operation status, complete unattended operation.
